Today, 27 August, the Committee on Culture and the Media adopted the Report of the Council for Electronic Media for 2025. The report was presented by the chair, Dr Gabriela Naplatanova, in the presence of the other members of the CEM: Dr Simona Veleva, Prolet Velkova, Galina Georgieva and Kadrinka Kadrinova. In her presentation to the members of parliament, Ms Naplatanova outlined the main highlights of the media regulator's activity: more than 30,000 hours of monitoring of audio and audiovisual content; more than 90 focused monitoring exercises, some of them concerning the introduction of the euro in the country, the Israel-Iran war, illegal hospices, civic protests, and coverage of cases involving violence against children. In 2025, the Council also initiated a number of public events on issues key to the development of the media environment and regulation: the first study of its kind of the audience for the media services of the two public media, BNT and BNR, and of expectations regarding their public mission; a conference on the European Media Freedom Act; a discussion on military conflicts, the media and society; a round table on artificial intelligence: opportunities and challenges for the media and regulation; the first training of its kind for influencers, held jointly with the National Council for Self-Regulation; and others.…
